The service was divine! Our large group was felt special, every drink was filled. The prime rib is always perfect but the porterhouse is perfection! Melts in your mouth worth a fabulous burgundy sauce on top, can't get ante m any better than that!
Wonderful food, realistic prices. We go here at least once a year for the past 30 + years. They accommodate our group of 7 non-drinkers (mostly) and serve food cooked to order. This time when we went, we were sad to see that restaurant had about a third of what would be the normal patrons for dinner. No band. Just great food. Are we in a recession or a depression for or is this just a changing of the guard from the boomers to the millennials and gen xers? So sad to see. So many great times and fond memories. Still the same great quality and excellent service.
This is my husband's and my favorite restaurant. We go here for all our celebrations. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere with live music is perfect for a date night!
Food was excellent but Saturday evenings are a zoo. Very busy and loud. Tables are quite close together. It was difficult to have a conversation. I would go on a different day/time so the servers could give proper attention. They seemed understaffed for the volume of customers. It was almost 2 hours before we ate. Waitstaff was very nice but overwhelmed. Again, most food was excellent but 2 in our group didn't care for the lobster bisque at all. Salmon and veggies was good and everyone raved about the creamy chicken soup. Would be willing to try again at a little slower pace. Bill seemed reasonable for our group of eight.
My family visited Clawson Steakhouse for the first time last Friday. We typically dine in Birmingham near our home and business, but this was well worth the short drive. Despite the restaurant being packed and a bit chaotic, our server, Hayley, made the evening feel special from start to finish. We were seated in a corner booth near the kitchen, but Hayley’s attentiveness made us feel like her only priority. She guided us through the menu with excellent recommendations and kept us informed about the wait times. We started with the escargot, which arrived bubbling hot and delicious, along with drinks, bread, and soup. The steaks were served hot and easily rivaled our favorite local spots. It is rare to find such personalized, friendly service in a high-volume environment. We will definitely be back.
Went there for the first time with our son and daughter in law. Our server Brianna was attentive and friendly the food was delicious and the ambiance was great. Live band performing at a level where you could enjoy the music and still have a conversation at your table. We'll definitely come back again!
My first time here at this classic steak house. All the great things I've heard are true. It was a lunch visit for me. The fish and chips, include side salad. Delicious meal. A cocktail to wash it down was a perfect pour. Thanks to Kimberly behind the bar on this Friday. Ill be back for dinner!

As a Google Local Guide (Level 7) with 6Million views, I’ve seen a lot—and Clawson Steak House delivered a great date night experience. We originally tried Royal Oak, but everywhere had a 2-hour wait, so we came here instead—and I’m so glad we did. Old-school, classic vibe with a cozy atmosphere, live band, and even people dancing. We showed up in jeans and felt totally comfortable. We skipped a 20-minute wait by grabbing seats at the bar. Our bartender, Amy, was kind and clearly hustling—it was busy, so drinks and menus took about 15 minutes, but understandable for a Saturday night. Food was the highlight. Filet mignon and New York strip, both medium rare—both cooked perfectly (which is rare to get right). The fresh bread was excellent, and the crackers had a garlicky everything-bagel seasoning that was so good. The butter tasted fresh and high quality. My lemon rice soup was flavorful with nice seasoning (just could’ve used a bit more rice). Only downsides: they ran out of baked potatoes, and my spinach side was very plain and under-seasoned. Overall, about an hour to get entrées, but it felt relaxed—not rushed. For under $200 (drinks, soup, salad, bread, entrées), it felt very fair for the experience. Definitely worth it—we’ll be back
